Charles I gold Unit ND (1637-1642) UNC Details (Cleaned) PCGS, Edinburgh mint, KM57, S-5531. 9.85gm. Thistle and B mm. Third coinage. By Nicholas Briot. A beautifully rendered type whose superior craftmanship helped usher in the prevalence of milled coinage in Great Britain. Though perhaps exhibiting very minor evidence of a past light cleaning, this elusive Mint State representative is largely choice in appearance. The patina displays as a beautiful veil of satiny, mellow, banana-yellow coloration. Some of the original luster remains on the obverse but the reverse is especially luminous and appealing.
