1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7

1964 Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 Transmission: manual Mileage:79714 We are pleased to offer this delightful Austin Healey 3000 BJ7, built to represent the Works Healey of 1964. Over an 18 year period EBW 195B underwent extensive restoration works which still exudes with quality today. In fact, rarely seen with such a sports car, that it displays a character and a patina often missed with the overly glitzy restorations on the market so frequently. Retaining the left hand drive format it started with, the British Motoring Heritage Trust Certificate states that this big Healey was manufactured between 27th and 28th June 1963 and was dispatched to the USA on 22nd July of that year. The certificate also confirms that the car was dispatched with wire wheels, overdrive, a heater, an adjustable steering column, tonneau cover, whitewall tyres and a laminated windscreen. The Guards Red coachwork is in excellent order throughout with the standard continuing on the undersides. Of note are the panel gaps, which are an important detail, usually difficult to obtain with restorations of motor cars such as this. The front wings have the addition of the Works style vents and what really sets this Healey off, is the addition of a Works style hardtop with vent. It may be of interest to note that we are not sure whether this is a genuine Works hardtop, but it doesn't have the look of a new reproduction item however. On opening the bonnet, you will see the standard of workmanship has been maintained. The engine is supplied with triple 1¾ SU carburettors and the electrics supplied by an alternator conversion. Exhaust gases are extracted via the stainless-steel side exiting exhaust system. In addition, the brakes have been uprated and drive is via an overdrive gearbox and limited slip differential. In addition to the wire wheels, there is a set of knock-on Minilight style alloy wheels shod with excellent Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The interior continues on the inside with the excellent red piped black Connolly hide seats and matching Wilton carpets. A set of standard bumpers, in excellent condition, are also included should you wish to return this to a more traditional road looking car. The history file is as you would expect, comprehensive with detailed invoices and photos of the restoration combined with more recent works with Healy specialists JME; this includes a full shakedown and tune in April 2021 before a brake overhaul in June 2021 with electronic ignition added. We are informed the car is now a peach to drive and very fast! So, there you have it, a fabulous Austin Healey that is a pleasure to drive, offered from a private collection that looks and feels period and has all the right parts that make it the car it is today. Please inspect this Austin Healey and then ask yourself, what would this Austin Healey cost to build today? With that in mind, we're sure you will agree that it is offered with a very reasonable estimate.
