1930s Japanese Samurai Katana Sword by Ishihara Kanenao

1930s Japanese Samurai Katana Sword. Master - Ishihara Kanenao. Student of Amachi Suzuichi. Place of manufacture (master, factory, if any - etiquette):Japan. Honshu Island. Gifu Prefecture. Seki City.

On the front side, the blade is decorated with an engraving/horimono depicting a crouching dragon/hairyu. On the back, there is an engraved Sanskrit/bonji symbol representing the Buddhist goddess Marishi (Marishiten), who was considered by warriors in feudal Japan as a patroness in battle. The engraving on the blade was made much later than the creation of the sword/atobori. On the front side of the tang there is an inspection army stamp in the form of a sakura flower and the hieroglyph "Sho" enclosed in it. Below is the signature of the master gunsmith, consisting of seven hieroglyphs: "Made by Ishihara Kanenao,living in Seki/Seki-ju Ishihara Kanenao tsukuru". Just below the signature, the hieroglyph "Katana" is painted in white. The frame element - the protection of the brush/tsuba has the author's signature of two hieroglyphs: "Yakushi".
