ALL SUPPORT WELCOME:

Your support in many diverse ways in very welcome.  As a species, we must develop the knowledge to manage our impact on the environment.  Fortunately, our VMNH need to transform data into knowledge can be met with technology  and determination. The Virtual Museum will be built with contributions of technology, time, money and knowledge from anyone who feels they have a stake in its success.

If you would like to contribute please see "Donations" link on this page, or to discuss your support interests please contact us at:

We are creating a  virtual museum that fulfills the biological knowledge needs of our time. To get started, we are looking for:

Technology sponsorship from companies that can help us bring reality to the Virtual Museum organizational and business model. We need help from hardware, software and Internet companies, and offer a compelling application to showcase your technology.

Expedition Sponsorship from companies and organizations to provision our field expeditions, in the form of outdoor gear, travel and lodging  logistics, and utility vehicles.

Volunteer Support in the form of advisors, data contributors, photos, literature, newly published books, writers, peer reviewers, and access to collections.

Facilities, from which we can operate our programs of teaching, website management, host our labs and keep our library.

Financial Support, without which nothing can continue. While we are a Virtual Museum (without our own brick and mortar), we need money to procure all that it takes to make the VMNH a reality.  Funds are needed to procure equipment & tools, buy software and hardware, pay for web site hosting services, produce film, fund research and travel, and do all those other things that require money...

...Like eat occasionally.

SPONSORS:

The Virtual Museum of Natural History is very proud to announce the following offers of support from companies (listed alphabetically) and individuals, and we thank each and every one of you for your support and encouragement:

Adobe Systems for the interest expressed in our reviews of their software.

Founded in 1982, Adobe Systems builds award-winning software solutions for Web and print publishing. Its graphic design, imaging, dynamic media and authoring tools enable customers to create, publish, and deliver visually-reach content for various types of media. www.adobe.com.

Academic Press, Inc. provided a review copy of the first book about insects in the VMNH library. The volume, about praying mantids, is briefly reviewed in our library's new books section.

Appian Graphics has offered multihead video cards for use in VMNH computer platforms.  The first of these is being integrated into a high end computer that will be used for video editing.

Since 1994, Appian Graphics has pioneered the development of multiple monitor hardware and software solutions. No, we don't make multiple monitors, rather, we specialize in multiple monitor graphics cards and software.  Using one of our graphics cards to power several monitors from one PC not only expands your desktop, but also greatly increases your level of productivity.

Mr. Craig Clayton has kindly donated a Hewlett Packard scanner that processed slides, negatives, and small prints. He has also provided the VMNH with several packages of Microsoft programs, including the one used to create this website, FrontPage.

EAS, the sports nutrition company in Golden, Colorado, has provided our second New Guinea expedition with a supply of Myoplex bars. Each bar is a completely balanced meal, yet takes up little backpack room and tastes good--far better than the rice, tinned beans and dry biscuits of our first trip! EAS, publisher of Muscle Media magazine, has also pioneered a complete program for personal nutrition and fitness that VMNH staff have been using since 1998. Visit the EAS website at www.eas.com. Thanks to Drew Smith of EAS Public Relations for this gift.

Encad has offered high resolution photographic printers. We thank Sean Reed for his excellent technical advice and referrals on topics related to printing and digital photography.

ENCAD introduced the world's first low-cost, large-format color inkjet printer, the NovaJet, back in 1991. Today, ENCAD provides the complete printing solutions with bundled packages of printers, inks, media, software and training. It holds a unique position as the provider of customer-focused printing solutions to key high-growth applications, including graphics arts production, signage, retail point-of-sale, and textile printing.  www.encad.com.

Tom Mazorlig, editor of Reptile & Amphibian Hobbyist magazine, has donated books and provided useful information. The VMNH staff is grateful for Tom's input and interest!

Microsoft employees have supported the VMNH through generous donations of software, time and technical expertise.

Dr. Chip Miller recently presented the VMNH with a set of the important 2-volume reference book, Walker's Mammals of the World, and The Dinosaur Encyclopedia. He has also supported our laboratory with the purchase of terraria and lizards.

Dr. Terrence C. Miller and Denise Sullivan have donated an automobile which the VMNH will sell to raise cash. We thank you for this generous gift!

Novell Corp. has offered software consulting on how best to establish authorization procedures to create a quality controlled data input process. We are certain that their expertise in intranet software design will be vital to our peer-reviewed knowledge management process. www.novell.com

Reptile Haven of Denver has made numerous contributions of frozen reptiles for use in our preserved collection.

Sceptre Technologies, Inc.

Sceptre Technologies, Inc. has offered hardware support in the form of notebook computers, docking stations and monitors. These will enable us to create the platforms we need to build the virtual reality of the VMNH, and to process the vast amounts of data we will be transforming into the Web of Life database. A special thanks to Stephen Liu, president/CEO of Sceptre, for his long-time interest in the great reptiles known as monitor lizards.

Headquartered in City of Industry, California, Sceptre Technologies has factories in Taiwan, Thailand and China and warehouses throughout North America. For more information on their products, please go to our Museum Mall or go directly to www.sceptre.com

Strictly Reptiles, a reptile dealership in Florida, has kindly presented several valuable frozen specimens to the VMNH research collection. We gratefully acknowledge the help from Jeanne Brodsky on our behalf. Strictly Reptiles may be contacted at 6450 Stirling Road, Hollywood, Florida 33024, Phone (954) 967-8310.

Yorkshire Associated Producers, the TV company that produces O'Shea's Big Adventure for Animal Planet. They are making financial contributions to the VMNH and funding important VMNH  field studies. O'Shea's Big Adventure features British snake expert Mark O'Shea as he works with herpetologists around the world to study rare, unusual and important reptile and amphibian species. Unlike other nature shows, O'Shea documents actual ongoing research and often presents fascinating and important data for the first time. We also gratefully acknowledge copies of the videotapes of O'Shea's Big Adventure donated to the VMNH research library.

Young Forest Company, publishers of electronic taxonomy products, has donated copies of the CD-ROM Key to the Sharks and Rays of the World and an extensive library of books and technical papers on elasmobranch biology.
